Check compatibility
macOS Big Sur is compatible with the following computers. If your Mac isn't compatible, you might be able to install an old version of macOS instead.
Install El Capitan On Mac
The installation was successful without any issue, and the Mac Mini is working perfectly fine until mid-October. All update was done. In October, I attempted to install MacOS Catalina through 'macOS Catalina Patcher' but no success (by both upgrade and clean install). Oct 01, 2015 Open the program called “Install OS X El Capitan” Follow the on-screen instructions. If this program is missing or will not run, then move it to the trash and empty the trash, followed by re-downloading it from the App Store. Your computer may have problems with sleeping or properly conserving battery life post-El Capitan. Visit System Preferences, go to Energy Saver, and make sure that your sleep mode settings are.

Mac operating system’s twelfth major version is the El Capitan Installer (version 10.11). All the Mac computers which don’t have the privilege to upgrade to MacOS High Sierra or the computers that need to upgrade to El Capitan first, can download this twelfth version on the computer. During the installation of OS X El Capitan on my Mac Book Pro, the install fails and I am left with 'OS X Could not be installed on your computer File System verify or repair failed. Quit the installer to restart your computer and try again.' No matter how many restarts I do it does not install. Also repair does not work in disk utility.
If upgrading from macOS Sierra or later, your Mac needs 35.5GB of available storage to upgrade. If upgrading from an earlier release, your Mac needs up to 44.5GB of available storage. To upgrade from OS X Mountain Lion, first upgrade to OS X El Capitan, then upgrade to macOS Big Sur.
Download macOS Big Sur
If you're using macOS Mojave or later, get macOS Big Sur via Software Update: Choose Apple menu > System Preferences, then click Software Update.
Or use this link to open the macOS Big Sur page on the App Store: Get macOS Big Sur. Then click the Get button or iCloud download icon.
Install macOS Big Sur
After downloading, the installer opens automatically. Click Continue and follow the onscreen instructions.
Please allow installation to complete without putting your Mac to sleep or closing its lid. During installation, it might restart and show a progress bar or blank screen several times. You might find it easiest to begin installation in the evening so that it can complete overnight, if needed.
